It is with great honor and gratitude that the PHA embraces this move from the honorable Asec Laxamana.

When asked why she decided to be an affiliate member of the PHA, Asec Laxamana has this to say – “I want to be part of the PHA because, in my past years of work as a public health servant, I have always been a consultant of the different hospitals. Now that I am a PHA affiliate member, I can give my full support not only to the government hospitals but to the private hospitals, as well.”

She further stated that “it will allow better coordination and collaboration of PHA programs and activities with all the initiatives of the Department of       Health. This will likewise result in better collaboration amongst the Department of Health, the Philippine Hospital Association, and the Philippine Medical Association which will really strengthen our healthcare system. So yes, I really want to become a member – to be a continuous member of       the PHA.” This early the good secretary noted that “I plan to work on an operational research which I want to collaborate with the PHA.”

For her final words, Asec Laxamana shared these words of wisdom – “To improve the healthcare system, it should not only be the government who acts, but it should also involve and include the private sector. I think that the harmonious collaboration of the public and the private sectors would mean improving the healthcare system in the country.”
